How we connected with our San Angelo, TX Family in 2011:
I was going through the internet looking for Gomez relatives and ran across an obituary where a lady named Florence Gomez Montelongo had just passed in April 2011. I saw where she was sister to Maggie Pena from Chickasha, OK. I continued my internet search and ran across Sam Gomez who was in the process of planning his 2011 Gomez Family Reunion in San Angelo,TX. Sam is nephew to Maggie Pena. I then wrote to him and he responded. He invited us to the San Angelo Reunion. Jesse Jaques, myself (JoAnn Gomez Ontiveros), my daughters Linda and Kimberly, their daughters Krystalen and Sicilia respectively, all loaded up and headed to San Angelo. There we met the family of Julian Gomez, brother of George R Gomez. I met my dear sweet cousin, Vera Gomez Fuentes, her grandson, Lee, Gladys, Dori, Lance, Lupe, all the Montelongos and so many more. They are the friendliest people you could ever meet. I met many cousins and family from all over Texas. This was the best find. The following year Sam along with his wife, Lupe, and sons attended the 2012 Reunion in Anadarko.
Many years ago, I remember my grandpa, George R Gomez, mentioning that his older brother, Julian, had died dancing in front of a juke box in San Angelo, TX. I asked about this and they had said this was true. I then knew right then I had the right Gomez Family....https://gomezreunion.com/Gomez_Site.php
